William (Willie) VerSteeg was admitted into the practice of law in Ohio in 2020. Prior to joining Friedman & Mirman, he worked as a bailiff and staff attorney for the Hon. Richard E. Berens, Administrative Judge of the Fairfield County Common Pleas Court, General Division. While working for Judge Berens, Willie conducted legal research and drafted hundreds of entries for the court, while also endeavoring to facilitate the orderly procession of court activities and ensure access and understanding to those involved in the court system.
Willie graduated from The Ohio State University Moritz College of law in 2020. Throughout law school, he was involved with the Public Interest Law Foundation, which named him a fellow in 2018 in support of his public interest internship at the Office of the Federal Public Defender’s Capital Habeas Unit. From 2019-2020, Willie interned for the Ohio Public Defender’s Wrongful Conviction Project. In 2019, he competed in the Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition at Emory University.
Originally from the West Coast, Willie has made central Ohio his home since 2013. Prior to law school, he graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from The Ohio State University in 2016. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in 2012. He is married with a son and stepson.
