What Is Super Lawyers and Super Lawyers Rising Stars?
Super Lawyers is a rating service composed of highly respected and accomplished members of the legal community. Super Lawyers’ membership includes lawyers from over 70 practice areas. Every year, Super Lawyers focuses on identifying and highlighting the best performing lawyers in each state throughout the U.S. To select attorneys, Super Lawyers relies on independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations.
To qualify for Super Lawyers Rising Stars, an attorney must be under 40 years old and have been practicing for 10 years or less. To be selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, an attorney must survive a rigorous process, which includes having their practice undergo third-party validation. Attorneys who are selected as Rising Stars are considered to be the next great lawyers in their practice areas and communities.

Denise Mirman is Friedman & Mirman’s managing shareholder. She is an Ohio State Bar Association Board Certified Specialist in Family Relations Law, and has been selected as an Ohio Super Lawyer each year since 2005, when the ratings service began.
In 2015, she was named Lawyer of the Year in Family Law in Central Ohio by Best Lawyers in America. In 2023, Denise was selected as a Top 100 Ohio Super Lawyer, Top 50 Women Ohio Super Lawyer, Top 50 Columbus Super Lawyer, and Top 25 Women Columbus Super Lawyer.
Scott N. Friedman is Ohio State Bar Association Board Certified. He specializes in Family Relations Law. From 2013-2014, Attorney Friedman served as chair of the American Bar Association Family Law Section. He is currently a Section Delegate to the House of Delegates in the American Bar Association.
Scott has been selected as an Ohio Super Lawyer every year since 2011. He has also been named Top Ohio Super Lawyer and Top Columbus Super Lawyer before, and in 2023, he was selected as a Top 100 Ohio Super Lawyer and a Top 50 Columbus Super Lawyer.
Associate Attorney Kelly Y. Queen has been practicing Family Relations Law in Ohio since 2015. Kelly is a member of the Columbus Bar Association (Family Law Committee) and Ohio State Bar Association (Family Law Section). This is the second year in a row that Kelly has been selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.
Associate Attorney Valeriya S. Kryvokolinska has been handling Family Relations Law cases since 2017. From 2021-2023, she was selected as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch by Best Lawyers in America for her work in the Family Law practice area. In addition to this year, Attorney Kryvokolinska was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2021.
